The Unbearable Darkness of Being

And then, there’s this.

Wait, what? Barack Obama is black? Since when?

Look, it’s no secret that Chris Matthews is an albino mole from Neptune sent to Earth to confuse the sane. That much we know. So put that aside. But his particular form of sycophantic pyschobabble is emblematic of so many voices on the left.

Barack Obama is what He is: the offspring of a white female and a black male. Simply a man; no more, no less. Oh, and also the sinewy King of the Universe. But the left cannot get beyond the fact that this man is black. Or, at least, that He views Himself as black.

Granted, the election was historic, in the sense that for the first time in history a self-described black man was chosen for the office of the presidency (okay, second if we count Bill Clinton). That is a testament, not to be minimized, of the realization of the ideals of a country dedicated to liberty and self-governance. But so was the appointment of the first black U.S. Senator or the election of the first black U.S. Representative. And those happened 140 years ago.

This just in: Black People Not Inherently More Virtuous Than White, Just Differently Pigmented. Race has no intrinsic significance. It is nothing to fear and nothing to revere. Let it go. View Obama simply as the President, not the first black President. George W. Bush was not viewed as the 43rd white President (okay, 42nd if we count Bill Clinton).

And this inane leftist proposition of ‘post-racial’ is a laughable irony. There is no such thing for the left, to whom race is not a characteristic but a qualification. Their fixation with race ensures that the colorblind society to which they pay breathless, sweaty lip-service will never materialize. And, in reality, that’s the goal. Victims, real or imagined, are the greatest and cheapest source of power to be had for ‘leaders’. As such, for the indigenous Clownpeople of the Potomac, for the scribbling heads and talking hands in the media and for other imperious bureaucratic mobs with a corporate charter that imagine themselves the overseers of the great unwashed, race is a ready weapon of mass distraction.

So has it been, so shall it ever be. On Earth as it is on Neptune. Amen.
