Hypocrisy as a Second Language

Here is a heartwarming admonition from Ciudadano Presidente Constitucional de los Estados Unidos Mexicanos Felipe de Jesús Calderón Hinojose, whose business card must be an amazing example of typographic design efficiency—or the size of a baking sheet. He may be a little difficult to understand as he is currently a student of HSL (Hypocrisy as a Second Language). The other side of his mouth is reserved for his native language of Spanglish.

Calderón, whose name is derived from the Vulgar Latin for ‘cauldron’, has certainly boiled the nerves of many Americans. But fear not, intrepid citizens, for an apparent majority of the Criminal Clownpeople of the Potomac have your backs.

Or, not.

So, just to clarify: a foreign head of state addresses our Congress, criticizes the duly established law of one of our states and Congressional members not only agree with the criticism, but actually answer it with a standing ovation. Exactly what you would expect from a group of elected insurgents.

We will ignore for the moment the droll visual of Biden’s purple tie stubbornly pointing leftward and instead clue in El Imbécil. The ‘assault weapons’ ban of which you are so enamored proscribed the sale of certain types of semi-automatic weapons with features declared to be dangerous by expert bureaucrats—mostly the types that looked scary, not the types that can kill you any deader. The ban was in place from 1994-2004, the very period your drug cartels were cementing their position as the leading Central American drug traffickers following the demise of the major Colombian cartels. It’s impossible that you don’t know that. So, thanks for the transparent attempt but you don’t have to prove your leftist bona fides to Congress. They already know who you are. And so do we. Publicly criticizing the attempt of a state to enforce its own laws is enough; waving the gun control flag is just gratuitous.

Now, go back home and, in an effort to strengthen your hypocrisy, continue to shakedown, abuse and deport some more of your own illegal aliens.
